The list of publications and manuscripts by individuals, which follows, is an attempt to describe writings which involve Liberia and Liberia's neighbors, Sierra Leone, Guinea and the Ivory Coast. These latter writings usually involve peoples who share the common border.
This list has the advantage that it is possible to obtain an idea of what a particular scholar has written about the area. It is also possible to search the list for particular words, especially if it appears in the title. It is clearly not a descriptive bibliography. For such a recent work, see: D. Not included here are publications which have been issued by the Liberian government, with some exceptions, such as those which list the author, or for whom the publication is well known by its author. Under the list of abbreviations which are the end of each section, it will be noted that the Liberian libraries where publications were seen in the past are not likely to be found there anymore. The citations are kept in the list as they at least allow one to see that such a publication existed, and that it may possibly be found, and if not, it may be possible to search for it elsewhere.
